Falling Off the Wagon

Published by amandalch at 11:36 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

It is so easy to let exercise fall by the wayside when you have so much going on in your life. That’s why choosing or creating a fitness plan that you will stick to is so important. Exercise is hard enough. Uninspired exercise will land you right back on the couch before long.

It is also easy to get burned out, even on a great program. I should know. It happened to me. The workouts I once loved became nothing more than another chore. On top of that, I’d hit a plateau. I was so focused on counting and burning calories that my mind was consumed and exhausted. The first little distraction that came along, a vacation, was an excuse for me to hop off the wagon, and I’m just now getting back on.

So what will I do differently this time?

Well, I’ve learned that moderation is necessary. It doesn’t have to be all or nothing. Slow and steady wins the weightloss race. This isn’t The Biggest Loser. I’m not going to be dropping 10 or even 5 pounds a week no matter how much I exercise or how little I eat. That isn’t a healthy way to lose weight. My goal is to get healthy and any weightloss that comes with that is a bonus.
